Update: I don’t know now whether Hamlet is villain or hero. I used to be confident that Hamlet was a villain, but then Grieser convinced me there was counter-evidence (“good-night sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”) and though I feel I “get” acts 1-3, I get stuck around the death of Polonius, since the imagery does not seem very clear to me. Is Hamlet acting as an agent of public justice, and was Polonius playing a high-risk game?

The only thing I am certain of is that C.S. Lewis drew much of his lunar imagery from this play.
