1909. Their Origin, History, Home Life, Strife, Religion, and Superstitions in Their Relation to the Bible. With Twenty-Eight Illustrations from Photographers. From the Preface: The Bedawin of the desert occupy a unique position in the history of the human race, one that has not generally received the consideration it merits. It is the Witness of the Wilderness which furnishes us with illustrations of those darker pages of the Israelitish story that prevented the line of Promise from appearing clearly and distinctly in the Chosen Race. In the Children of Israel there is represented the progressive revelation of God; in the Children of the Wilderness we see the state of life in which it first appeared. That life has been stationary in the Bedawin, and I have endeavored to depict its salient features in their association with the Land of Promise and its People, and the normal condition of its existence.
