So conjugate the compounds of ver, antever, prever,

rever.

Mr. Vieyra, in his grammar, observes a difference between prover, when it signifies to provide for, to take care of, and when it signifies to make provision. F. C. Durand, in his grammar, do not seem to have taken notice of such a difference, and only distinguishes prover, to provide for, from prever, to foresee. The dictionary of Joachim Joseph D'acosta y Sa, agrees with Durand, and we feel too incompetent judges, to decide between so learned authors in dissidence, and we give the observation of Mr. Vieyra, as we find it.

He conjugates prover, when it signifies to provide for, to take care of, as a compound of the verb vir, provenho, provens, provem, provîmos, provindes, provem.

And when it signifies to make provision, like a compound

of ver, provejo, proves, prové, provemos, provéis, provem. Adhuc sub judice lis est.
