Harmon's commentary is generally inane, but he makes up for it by selecting excellent pieces. The definitions of obscure words following each relevant poem are useful.

This is the perfect book of poetry for one, like me, ready to let the poet serve as "a guide to the world ... and a yardstick for the language (Joseph Brodsky, Russian-American poet). J.D.
