Freedom! From Past Hurts

Often our past unknowingly affects our present. Every action has a corresponding belief. In this book, we identify buried life experiences that reveal the present harmful actions and attitudes we have about ourselves and others. Self-hatred, rejection, concealed rage, bitterness, and a critical spirit are some of the subjects covered. What we believe about ourselves becomes the motive for why we act the way we do. We become what we think about. Negative secret dialogues produce hidden time bombs in relationships. Our perceptions are formed from our past experiences. What we believe doesn't affect what is, but it does affect our actions. When we believe something that isn't true, it is deception. Deception blocks truth from being assimilated. When we are deceived, we don't recognize our own deception. Not every thought we have is ours. Many thoughts are implanted in our minds by the enemy of our souls. Satan is the father of lies. He can't tell the truth. If he can plant a lie in our mind, and we believe it and act on it, the lie will control our lives. God cannot lie; therefore, His Word is the truth that will set us free. John 8:32 says, And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. It is the truth that we apply to our lives that brings lasting change. Persistent destructive habits or addictions imprison our hearts. Jesus came to set the captives free. Through His death on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sins in full. When we accept God's gift of eternal life, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us. It is the Holy Spirit who guides us into the life changing truth that will break the chains of darkness, and set us free from our inner prison of wrong beliefs.
