THE

HE origin and design of this Work may be explained in a few words.

By various Acts of Sederunt a copy of each paper printed for the Judges of the Court of Session is ordered to be boxed for the Library of the Faculty of Advocates. The Curators intending to avail themselves of this privilege to form a complete Collection of every decided Case, have ordered a copy of the printed papers in each, with an authentic copy of the judgment furnished by the Clerks of Court, to be bound up in the order of the decisions, and deposited in the Library.

At the request of one of the Curators, the Authors of this Work undertook, at the beginning of last Session, to collect and arrange those papers. Much difficulty attended the execution of this duty, from many having been lost but through the politeness of the agents, the papers in the cases which were de
