The Committee on Synodical Minutes reported, and their report was adopted, and is as follows : The Committee on Synodical Minutes beg leave to report, that they find on the Minutes submitted to their inspection the following resolutions and recommendations, claiming the attention of this Synod. On the minutes of the Particular Synod of New-York, they find resolutions dividing the Classis of New-York into two Classes; making Grand-street the division line. On the minutes of said Synod, your Committee find the following reference of the Classis of New-York, to wit : " Whether the article of the Constitution, requiring the regular exposition of the Catechism on a part of every Lord's day, is to be rigidly enforced; or whether it may not be submitted to Consistories, where circumstances may require it to be partially dispensed with." Your Committee also find on said minutes, notice of the suspension by the Classis of Paramus, of S. Z. Goetchius from his office, as a candidate for the gospel ministry. On the minutes of the Particular Synod of Albany, the following preamble and resolutions from the Classis of Albany, in which said Synod concurred, are presented for the consideration of General Synod. " Whereas the rules of church government, together with the explanatory articles, are found to be in many repects illy calculated to promote the correct and useful administration of the government and discipline of the church; therefore Resolved, That the Classis of Albany deem it highly expedient that there should be an entire revision of the rules and articles of Church Government of the Reformed Dutch Church." The Committee also find a resolution relative to the case of Simon Westfall, whose application on the recommendation of Synod for aid from the Van Benschoten Fund, is stated not to have been granted; which resolution requires an inquiry into the reason of its failure. On the minutes of said Synod, is also found a recommendation, that some modification be made in the plan of the organization of the |
