Let those who have not the disposition or the leisure, forbear to read. But let others who know how to profit by them, enjoy the opportunity. Many in the Christian church will sooner attain the stature of the perfect man in Christ Jesus, by the contemplation of Christian character as portrayed in such-volumes, than by the most profound and elaborate disquisitions on theology with which the church has ever been favored. This fact alone is a sufficient answer to all objections.
