A PROCLAMATION for a general FAST.

40+0+ T being our incumbent Duty to acknowledge GOD in all our Ways, and to commit all our Affaire, Leth publick and private, to his gracious Direction; and being bound, in a special Manner, to implore the Divine Ek fling when we are engaged in Concerns 40404 of great Importance;

Habe therefore thought it, with the Advice of his Majefty's Council, and at the Defire of the Aflembly, to appoint Thursday the Twentieth of March next, to be observed throughout this Province, as a Day of Fafling and Prayer; Hereby calling upon inifters and people religiously to folemnize the fame, by penitent Confellion of their sins, and deep Humiliation for the growing Depravity and Dillolution of Manners amongst us, with carneft Supplications to Almighty GOD, that he would be pleased to grant us the free pardon of our sins, and that a general Amendment and Reformation may prevail in all Oiders of Men; and that he would remove the prefent Tokens and effeds of bis righteous Difpleasure against us, and prevent those moze fevere Judgments, which our sing habe deferbed, and which in the Afpeas of Divine Providence we are warned to prepare for; and alfo, that it would please our merciful GOD to confer upon us all needful Bieflings; Particularly, that he bould long continue the precious Life of our Sovereign Loid the KING, and direct and profper the Counsels and Adminiftrations of his Government, for the general Brofperity of the Ringdoms and Dominions under his happy Rule, and particularly, for maintaining the juft Rights of his Crown, and the properties and poffeffions of his good Subjeas, against the Invalions of foreign polbers, and alfo for continuing and firengthening a general Peace among the Nations; Chat GOD would graciously preferve and bless their Royal Highnefies the PRINCE of Wales, the PRINCESS Dowager of Waler, the Duss, and the other Branches of the ROYAL FAMILY; bat he would be favourable to our Land, and give his gracious Influence and Guidance to the Government of this and his Majefty's other Colonies in NORTHAMERICA, that they may be led into fuch Deafures (moze especially at this Conjundure) as may be effectuat fo; their mutual Security and Tefence; That GOD would in great & ercy preserve Peace upon our Dea- Leads and Inland Frontless, and fruftrate all Designs to disturb and violate the fame, so that no Ceapon formed against us may profper; That he would refioze Health Where it is wanted, and continue it where it is enjoyed, That be would grant us fuitable Seatons in every Part of the Dear for producing a plentiful Increase of the Fruits of the earth That he bould protect and (ncceed the Navigation, Trade and Fishery of this province, and give his Bleffing to the Clocks of our hands, and that he would commiferate the Cafe of our Captives and reftoze their Liberty, And, above all, That he would defend and spread the Holy Religion of our Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST, and that the Power of Godlincs may every where prevail, and the whole Earth be filled with his Glory: And all fervite Labour and Recreations are forbidden on the laid Day.

A PROCLAMATION.

HEREAS the Indians of Norridgewock, Arrefagun a ook, Weweenock and St. John's Tribes, and the Indians of the other Tribes inhabiting in the Eaftern and Northern Parts of His Majefty's Territories of New-England, the Penobscot Tribe only excepted, have, contrary to their folemn Submiffion unto His Majefty long fince made and frequently renewed, been guilty of the moft perfidious, barbarous and inhuman Murders of divers of his Majefty's English Subjects; and have abftained from all Commerce and Correfpondence with His Majefty's faid Subjects for many Months paft; and the faid Indians have fully discovered an inimical, traiterious and rebellious Intention and Difpofition;

Dave therefore thought fit to iffae th's Proclamation, and to Declare the Indians of the Norridgewock, Arrefaguntacook, Weweenock and St. John's Tribes, and the Indians of the other Tribes new e2 late inhabiting in the Eastern and Noithren Parts of his Majesty's Territories of New-England, and in Alliance and Confederacy with the above-recited Tribes, the Penobscots only excepted, to be Cenemies, Rebels and Traitors to his Doft Sacred Majesty: And I do hereby require his Majesty's uticas of this Province to embrace all Dpportunities of pursuing, captivating, killing and destroying all and any of the aforesaid Indians, the Penobscots excepted.

AND WHEREAS the General Court of this Province have voted, That a Bounty or Encouragement be granted and allowed to be paid out of the Publick-Treafury to the marching Army that fhall be employed for the Defence of the Eastern and Western Frontiers from the Twenty-fifth of this Month of June until the Twenty-fifth of November next;

I babe thought at to publish the fame and ponereby promise, That there will be pare out of the Province-Treasury to all and any of the faid Forces, over and above their Bounty upon Enlistment, ages and Sutliftence, the Premiums oz Bounties following, viz.

For every Male Indian Prifoner above the Age of Twelve Years, that shall be taken and brought to Bofen, Fifty Pounds. For every Male Indian Scalp, brought in as Evidence of their being killed, Forty Pounds.

For every Female Indian Prifoner, taken and brought in as aforefaid, and for every Male Indian Prifoner under the Age of Twelve Years, taken and brought in as aforefaid, Twenty-froe Pounds.

For every Scalp of fuch Female Indian or Male Indian under Twelve Years of Age, brought as Evidence of their being killed, as aforefaid, Twenty Pounds.

GIVEN under my Hand at Bofton, in the Province aforefaid, this Twelfth Day of June, 1755, and in the Twenty-eighth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second, by the Grace of GOD, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, KING, Defender of the Faith, &c.
