Understanding God's Government dares to explore the nature of government at all levels - its pyramidal, hierarchical structure - within civil, religious, business, military, and social spheres, and then dissect the motivations behind their leaders. It is discovered that fear is usually the prime motivator that leaders use to gain and maintain control. The Creator's intended form of government for mankind, however, is a brotherhood based upon lateral relationships of love and concern for one's fellow man. The author delves into Biblical and secular sources to elucidate the nature of today's governments, elements of Godly government, ideal government within the ecclesia, forms of government that work, and their consequences. Additional articles are included, by former presidential candidate Harry Browne, Herbert W. Armstrong, James Lloyd, Norman Edwards, and the author. Learn why future government holds so much promise within this war-torn, unstable world. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Paul W. Syltie was born in 1945 on a crop and dairy farm in southwestern Minnesota, a product of a rich Norwegian heritage and the stormy, fertile northern Plains. He grew to love the beautiful prairie and stream valley of his youth, and there learned the many truths that deeply colored his entire life. Intending to return to the farm life he loved, he married his high school sweetheart Sandy, earned degrees in soils and crops at major Midwestern universities, served in the military during the Viet Nam War, and finally returned to the home farm ... only to discover the harsh economic realities of modern farming. Leaving Minnesota, he attended a theological school in eastern Texas before returning to the North as a farm manager. Once again the need for education called, and he achieved a Ph.D. in soil fertility at North Dakota State University in 1980, where his first major book - The New Eden - was written. Dr. Syltie then returned to Texas in 1980 to embark on a career of assisting farmers in restoring their land to prime productivity. This effort has taken him over the entire world to meet with farmers, businessmen, and leaders to help solve stubborn soil production problems. Through these experiences he has become acutely aware that governments hold the key to solving most of our problems on the land and in society: they can inhibit or promote solutions. Moreover, he has discovered that the Creator of all forms the foundation for these solutions. Dr. Syltie lives with his wife on a small farm in eastern South Dakota, and has six children and eleven grandchildren.
