A PROCLAMATION for a general FAST.

+0+0+ T being our incumbent Duty to acknowledge GOD in all our Ways, and to commit all our Affair, both publick and private, to his gracious Direction; and being bound, in a fpecial Manner, to implore the Divine Blfling when we are engaged in Concerns of great Importance;

Have therefore thought it, with the Advice of his Majefty's Council, and at the Defire of the Affembly, to appoint Thursday the Twentieth of March next, to be observed throughout this province, as a Day of Falling and Prayer; hereby calling upon Ministers and People religiously to folemnize the fame, by penitent Confellion of their ins, and deep Humiliation for the growing Depravity and Diffolution of Manners amongst us, with tarneft Supplications to Almighty GOD, that he would be pleased to grant us the free Pardon of our ins, and that a general Amendment and Reformation may prevail in all Oiders of Gen; and that he would remove the prefent Tokens and effeas of his righteous Displeasure against us, and prevent those moze severe Judgments, Which our Sins have deferbed, and which in the Alpeas of Divine Providence we are warned to prepare for, and alfo, that it would please our merciful GOD to confer upon us all needful Bieflings; Particularly, that he would long continue the precious Life of our Sovereign Lord the KING, and dired and profper the Counsels and Administrations of his Government, for the general profperity of the Kingdoms and Dominions under his happy Rule, and particularly, for maintaining the just Rights of his Crowo, and the Properties and Poleflions of his good ubjeds, against the Invalions of foreign powders, and alfo for continuing and frengthening a general Peace among the Nations; Chat GOD would graciously preserve and bless there Royal Highnefles the PRINCE of Wales, the PRINCESS DOWAGER of Wales, the Duss, and the other Branches of the ROYAL FAMILY; That he would be favourable to our Land, and gibe his gracious Influence and Guidance to the Government of this and his Majefty's other Colonies in NORTHAMERICA, that they may be led into fuch rafures (more especially at this Conjundure) as may be effectual for their mutual Security and Lefence; That GOD would in great & ercy preserve Peace upon our Sea-Coals and Juland Frontiers, and fruftrate all Deligns to disturb and violate the fame, so that no Calcapon formed again f us may profper; That he would refioze Health Where it is wanted, and continue it where it is enjoyed That be would grant us fuitable Seafons in every Part of the Dear fo: producing a plentiful Increase of the Fruits of the earth That he would protect and fncceed the Navigation, Trade and Fathery of this province, and give his Blefing to the clocks of our hands, and that he would commiserate the Lale of our Captives and reftoze their Liberty, And, above all, bat he would defend and spread the Holy Religion of our Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST, and that the Power of Godliness may every uhere prevail, and the whole Earth be filled with his Glory: And all fervite Labour and Recreations are forbidden on the said Day.

Captain-General and Governor in Chief, in and over His Majefty's Province of the Massachusetts-Bay, in New-England、 and Vice-Admiral of the fame, and Major-General in His Majefty's Army.

A

PROCLAMATION.

HEREAS the Indians of Norridgewock, Arrefagun a ook, Weweenock and St. John's Tribes, and the Indians of the other Tribes inhabiting in the Eastern and Northern Parts of His Majesty's Territories of New-England, the Penobscot Tribe only excepted, have, contrary to their folemn Submiflion unto His Majefty long fince made and frequently renewed, been guilty of the moft perfidious, barbarous and inhuman Murders of divers of his Majefty's English Subjects; and have abftained from all Commerce and Correfpondence with His Majefty's faid Subjects for many Months paft; and the faid Indians have fully discovered an inimical, traiterious and rebellious Intention and Difpofition;

Have therefore thought fit to issue this Proclamation, and to Declare the Indians of the Norridgewock, Arrelaguntacook, Weweenock and St. John's Tribes, and the Indians of the other Tribes new oz late inhabiting in the aftern and Noithren Parts of his Majesty's Territories of New-England, and in Alliance and Confederacy with the above-recited Tribes, the Penobscots only excepted, to be Fenemies, Rebels and Traitors to his Mokk Sacred Majefty: And I do hereby require his Majelty's uticas of this Province to embrace all Opportunities of pursuing, captivating, killing and deftroying all and any of the aforesaid Indians, the Penobscots creepied.

AND WHEREAS the General Court of this Province have voted, That a Bounty or Encouragement be granted and allowed to be paid out of the Publick-Treafury to the marching Army that fhall be employed for the Defence of the Eaftern and Western Frontiers from the Twenty-fifth of this Month of June until the Twenty-fifth of November next;

Province-Treasury to all and any of the laid Forces, over and above their Bounty upon Enlißment, their wages and Sutlifience, the Premiums 02 Bounties following, viz.

For every Male Indian Prisoner above the Age of Twelve Years, that shall be taken and brought to Bofion, Fifty Pounds. For every Male Indian Scalp, brought in as Evidence of their being killed, Forty Pounds.

For every Female Indian Prifoner, taken and brought in as aforefaid, and for every Male Indian Prisoner under the Age of Twelve Years, taken and brought in as aforefaid, Twenty-froe Pounds.

For every Scalp of fuch Female Indian or Male Indian under Twelve Years of Age, brought as Evidence of their being killed, as aforefaid, Twenty Pounds.

GIVEN under my Hand at Bolton, in the Province aforefaid, this Twelfth Day of June, 1755, and in the Twenty-eighth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second, by the Grace of GOD, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, KING, Defender of the Faith, &c.
