The meanes of the Bishopprick of Meath doe arise from

1 Temporalties or Temporall rentes,

2 Tithes,

3 Pencōns,

4 Proxies.

Che Temporallties belonging and apptayning to the Bishopprick of Meath are these, viz.

The Mannor of Ardbrackhan in the Countie of Meath whereunto belongeth the house together wth ccclx Akers or thereaboutes of Demesne landes remayning in the BP hands, Onely there is a controversie whether the BP should pay Tithes out of his demesne lands to S Roger Jones whoe is the Kings Farmor for the Abbay of the Novan.

The Chappell of St Maries in Ardbrackhan wth the appurtenñces was demised quarto Januarij Anno 1532 by Edward B' of Meath Thomas Abbot of the Novan and Covent to Richard Christen Register of Meath for Ixxxj yeares paying yearly xija notwithstanding the expiracon of weh lease the thing is now held by S Roger Jones his Maties Farmor of the Abbey of the Novan wthout allowing any rent to the BP.

Heilstowne in the Countie of Meath a C acres of arable land. A ffirrparke betweene Neilstowne and the Moore, foure Mesuages in Ardbrackhan and lxiiij acres of Ardbrackhan land demised by Edward B of Meath ix° Junij Anno vj Edwardi sexti to Richard Christen for iiij xixe" yeares paying yearely viij' Ir. wch is vi' Ster. After the expiracon of wch Terme another lease is to begin for iiij xix" yeares graunted by Thomas BP of Meath primo Januarij 1599 to Patrick Swayne wth reseruacon of the same rent. Betaghtaghtowne contayning lxtie acres. It was first passed in the former lease together wth Neilstowne. But BP Bradye getting it into his owne handes passed it in fee farme to his Sonne in the name of his Notary John Conan. Thence it is come by meane Conveyaunces to Garret Dillon, the rent reserued is iij' Ir. or xlv' ster. The writings I have not seene.

Ricardstowne in the Countie of Meath xxi acres and an halfe neere adioyning thereunto leased to Mr. William Hill of Allenstowne 22do Maij A° 1567 for lxj yeares, he paying the yearely rent of xxj vja Ir. or xvja ja ob. ster. A lease of the same in reuercon was passed by BP Jones quinto Julij A° 1605 to Thomas Braughall for cj yeares wth reseruacon of the same rent.

An old house in Ricardstowne wth xxxvj acres of land passed by B Jones to Thomas Braughall of Ardbrackhan yeoman xxiij Maij A° 1605 for cj yeares wth reseruacon of the yearely rent of xxvj' viija Ir. or xx' ster. It is in the possession of S Roger Jones Knight.

The Mannor of Ardrath in the Countie of Meath. It is held by Mr Cusack of Lismullen in fee simple wthout any dutie reserued to the B".

The Mannor of Clonarde in the County of Meath (was aunciently the seate of the Brick) and Killian in the said Countie with the villages of Mollrick Moringuliath etc. contayning about five hundred acres adioyning to the BPS Manno' house passed in fee farme by B Jones to St Thomas Loftus knight for xxtie poundes Ir. or xv1 ster. p annū.

Morebride in the Countie of Meath passed in fee farme by Edward B' of Meath nono Junij A° 6to Edwardi 6" to the heires of St Thomas Cusack knight for l' Ir. or xxxvij sterling p annū.

Ballibarne Anaghe and Moyden or Moydrome in the said Countie contayning clue acres or thereaboutes in the parish of Clonard leased by BP Brady xxiiij° Februarij anno 1578 to

George Fitz Gerrald for lxj yeares for iii" Ir. or xlv'ster pannū. A reuerčon of the same graunted by B' Jones to St Edward Fitz Garrald knight xxjo Maij A° 1605 for cj yeares to begin after the expiracon of the former lease paying yearely iiij" Ir. or iij1

Tollaght leased by BP Brady xxv° Februarij A° 1578 to Walter Flynn for lxj yeares, he paying thereout xx Ir. or xv' ster. pannu. It is now held by S Edward Fitz Garrald knight.

Arnemullen Enane and Kilwarden in the Countie of Meath contayning cxle acres or thereabout leased by BP Brady vltimo Junij 1571 to Robert Bostock for lxj yeares, he paying thereout vj" Ir. or iiij x3 ster. Another lease in reuerĉon graunted by B Jones to Thomas Braughall of Ard brackhan yeoman for cj yeares wth reseruacon of the same rent.

Mopfin contayning lx acres in the Countie of Meath leased by BP Brady xxvto Februarij A° xxj° regni Elizabeth to Jasper Staples for lxj yeares. for the yearely rent of xl' Ir. or xxxv ster. A reuercon afterward graunted to the same Jasper by B" of [sic] Jones for iiij xixen yeares wthout augmentacon of rent.

Scurlockstowne Effernocke and Castleragge in Newtowne by Tryme in the Countie of Meath passed in fee farme by B Brady xxxjo Maij A° 1564 to Barnabe Scurlock for the yearely rent of xvj" Ir. or xij" ster.

The Mannor of Tryme in the Countie of Meath his Mate alloweth out of it to the BP yearely a penčon of v" Ir. or iiij." xv'

Farneforth or Farren loare conteyning lxte acres in the Countie of Westmeath leased to Mr. Nugent of Dardistowne for xxij vja ster. p annū. The number of yeares I cannot learne.

Taffernam als Staffernam in the said Countie contayning lxtie acres of arable land beside meadow leased by BP Brady xxv° Februarij A° 1578 vnto Peirce Nugent for lxj yeares with reseruacon of the yearely rent of xxxiij' iiija Ir. or xxv3 ster.

Knocke and Churchtowne of Killowae in the Countie of Westmeath leased by BP Mountgomery A° 1616 to James Murrey for three lives wth a reseruacon of the rent of viij" ster pannū.

Balamacartan contayning fortie acres in Westmeath leased by B Jones nono Maij A° 1591 vnto James Browne for lxj yeares beginning primo Martij 1610 wth the reseruacon of the yearely rent of xxxiiij' Ir. or xviij' ster.

Clonfadforam contayning ex acres in Westmeath demised by BP Brady to John Conan now held by S Roger Jones knight. The rent is iiij" Ir. or xlv' ster. The terme is saied to be about fiftie yeares yet to come the lease I haue not seene.

Ballinaspicke als Bishopstowne in the Countie of Westmeath two concurrent leases were graunted hereof by BP Brady for the yearley rent of xij beoues. Thone to John Dongan for fiftie one yeares beginning xxiiij Februarij 1578. The other to Peter Nangle for lxj yeares beginning at Easter A° 1583.

Clare in Westmeath leased by BP Brady to John Dongan xxiiij februarij A° 1578 for lj yeares with reseruacon of viij beoues for the annuall rent.

Ballindrynam Ballintolcham Kilmanaghan Ballinkilline Tullamoyragher Ballemurre in the parish of Moyraffyn Ballinckny Ballikilmurry Atherny & Balladrohid in the parish of Moylin in Fercall in the Kings Countie. All these lands together with the advowson of the Rectorie of Rathwire in the Countie of Westmeath were passed in fee farme by Bishop Brady to the Earle of Killdare for iiij" Ir. or iij" ster. p annũ. wch rent allso is neuer paid. This was done vnder a colour of Exchaunge of these lands for Bishoppescorte weh the earle challenged as his owne Whereas it is well knowne to haue been the auncient demesnes of the Bishoppricke and the only house where he made his residence in Westmeath. The land in Fercall is passed by Ires patentes vnto S Fraunces Blundell in the late plantacon of O Moloyes Countrey wthout any recompence as yet giuen to the B either for the land itselfe or for the small rent that was rescrued uppon it.

The Rectory of Ballimore als Loxewdy in the Countie of Westmeath leased by BP Brady for cxle beoues p annu. But afterward by Bishop Dodde for the yearelie rent of xxx" ster. the lessee being bound to bear all charges ordinarie and extraordinarie. Wherevppon the question ariseth whether he be not hereby

bound to pay the kings twentieth part and the BP proxies yearely, the lease continueth for xvij or xviij yeares yet to come. The Rectorie of the Nobber with the Chappells belonging therevnto worth lx" ster. p annu. The tith corne and hay of Julianstowne apptayning to this Rectorie was demised by Edward BP of Meathe A° primo Edwardi 6" to Thomas S' Laurence als Howth for iiij xix" yeares he paying thereout yearely iij markes Ir. that is xxx' ster.

The Rectorie of Tryme in the Countie of Meath lately annexed by his Matie to the Brick weh is worth Communibus annis (the vicars allowance being deducted) cc ster. A good parcell of the Tithes of this Rectorie was leased by M' Draper (late BP of Killmore and parson of Tryme) for the vse of his wife who is now turned Recusant. Another portion in the towne of Tryme was demised by the said BP Draper to Nicholas Locke for the yearely rent of xxvj' Ir. or xx' ster.

The Pentions belonging to the Bricke of Meath are Out of the Rectorie of Paynestowne xxnobles Ir. or yli ster. Out of the priorie of Duleeke xxvj" xiij' iiij" Ir. or xx" ster. Out of the Priorie of Colpe xx" Ir. or xvi ster. heretofore vsually paid by the now lord Viscount of Drogheda. But now stayed because as he alleadgeth others should ioyne wth him in the payment thereof.

Out of St Maries Abbay by Dublin xx" Ir. or xv ster. heretofore duly paid by the Kings ffarmo" but now by many of

them denied.

Besides I finde in BP Bradyes rentall I finde v" viij' viija Irish paid as a pention out of the priorye of Molengare vj beoues out of the monastery of Loxewdy. Six beoues out of the priory of Derrowes. Six beoues of Wastina in the Deanrie of Loxewdy. And foure beoues out of the Monastery of Kilbeggan none of wch are now paid.

The proxies are receaued by the Br of Meath partlie out of the Institutive, partlie out of the impropriate liveings.

The Institutive proxies belonging to the B" of Meathe yeald lx" vs vja ster. in money xxxtie beoues.
