Ottawa, compiled in the Surveyor General's Office in the latter part of the year 1794 & early part of the year 1795, by Messrs. Samuel Gale & John B. Duberger, from the undermentioned materials-videlicet:—

The Division Line between the late Provinces of Quebec & New York from St. Regis on the South Side of the R'. St. Lawrence to the Bank of Connecticut River run by John Collins, Esq., D. Surveyor General in the Years 1771, 1772 & 1773; with observations thereon, made by Mr. Jesse Pennoyer, when laying out the Townships of Sutton & Potton in 1792; and by MessTM. Henry Holland & Joseph Kilborne when laying out the Townships of Hinchinbrook & Hemingford in 1793.-and a Survey of part of the Connecticut Rr. taken by Mr. James Grant in or about the Year 1771. With an explanation of how disagreements in the Surveys have been treated, and remarks as to the reliability of the various sections of the map. The ancient Grants of land are laid down from the Records thereof and the Records of Foi & Homage; the islands of St. Peter from an old Plan; the Districts from an Act of the 31st of May, 1794; the Counties from the Proclamation of His Excellency Alured Clarke, Lieutenant Governor, bearing date the 7th May, 1792; (attention being called to mistakes). The New Townships are distinguished from the old Grants by being laid down in Red Ink.

N.B.-This Plan is reduced from the Original which was compiled in the Surveyor General's Office on a Scale of two Miles to an Inch. Done in the Engineer's drawing Room at Quebec by John B.
