23 Then said Jesus to his disciples, "Verily I tell you, that a rich man will with difficulty enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." 25 But the disciples hearing this, were greatly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved ?" 26 But Jesus looking at them, answered, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

3 And he went out, about the third hour, and saw others standing idle, in the market-place, 4 and said to them, 'Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you.” And they went. 5 Again, he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did in like manner. 6 And about the eleventh [hour] he went out, and found others standing, and said to them, 'Why stand ye here, all the day, idle?' 7 They said to him, Because no one hath hired us.' He said to them, 'Go ye also into the vineyard, [and whatsoever is right ye shall receive.]'

But the first coming, they supposed that they should receive more; and they also received every one a denarius. 11 And having received it, they murmured against the householder, 12 saying, These last have worked but one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.' 13 But he answering one of them, said, 'Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me 24 And the ten hearing this, for a denarius? 14 Take what were moved with indignation is thine, and depart: now it is against the two brethren. 25 my will to give to this last, even But Jesus calling them to him, as to thee. 15 May I not do said; "Ye know that the rulers what I will with mine own? 17 AND as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve [disciples], privately on the way, and said to them, 18 "Lo! we are going up to Jerusalem and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and Scribes, 19 who will condemn him to death, and will deliver him up to the gentiles, that they may deride and Scourge and crucify him: and the third day he will rise again."

20 THEN, the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him, together with her sons, doing him obeisance, and asking a certain thing of him. 21 And he said to her, "What desirest thou?" She said to him, "Command that these my two sons

29 AND on their going out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. 30 And, lo! two blind men, sitting by the wayside, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have pity on us, Master, son of David." 31 Then the multitude rebuked them, that they might be silent; but they cried the more, saying, "Have pity on us, Master, son of David." 32 Then Jesus stopping, called them, and said, "What do ye want me to do for you?" 33

12 And Jesus went into the temple [of God,] and drove out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold doves; 13 and said to them, "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer;' but ye have made it a den of robbers." 14 And the blind and the lame came to him, in the temple; and he healed them.

CH. XXI. 1 AND when they drew near to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphagé, to the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples; 2 saying, to them, "Go into the village, over against you, and immediately ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with her loose them, and bring them to me. 3 And if any one say aught to you, ye 15 And the chief priests and shall say, The Master hath the scribes seeing the wonderneed of them :' and immediate-ful things which he did, and ly he will send them." 4 Now the boys shouting in the temple, [all] this was done, so that it and saying, "Hosanna to the was fulfilled which was spoken son of David!" were full of by the prophet, saying, 5 "Tell indignation; and said to him, ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, "Hearest thou what these say?” thy king cometh to thee; meek, 16 And Jesus said to them, and riding upon an ass, even a "Yes! Have ye never read, colt, the foal of an ass.” 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?" 17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them; 7 and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their mantles, and he sat thereon. 8 And a very great mul titude spread their mantles in the way; and others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. 9 And the crowd that went before, and that followed, shouted, saying, "Hosanna to the son of David: blessed be he who cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest."

18 NOW in the morning, on his returning to the city, he hungered. 19 And seeing a fig-tree on the way-side, he went to it; and finding nothing on it, except leaves only, he said to it, "Let no fruit grow on thee henceforth to the age." And forthwith, the fig-tree withered away. 20 And the disciples seeing it, wondered, saying, "How soon hath the fig-tree withered away!' 99 21 Then Jesus answering, said to them,

"Verily I tell you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what hath been done to the fig-tree, but even if ye shall say to this mountain, 'Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea,' it shall be done. 22 And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering, said, 'I go, Sir;' and went not. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Verily I tell you, that the publicans and the harlots lead the way for you into the kingdom of God. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him. And ye, although ye saw it, did not change your minds afterwards, so as to believe him.

23 AND when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him, as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority dost thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?" 24 And Jesus answering, said to them, "I also will 33 "Hear another parable: ask you one thing; which if ye A man, who was a householder, tell me, I also will tell you by planted a vineyard, and put a what authority I do these things. hedge about it, and digged a 25 Whence was the baptism winepress in it, and built a towby John? from heaven, or er, and let it out to husbandfrom men?" And they reason-men, and went into another ed with themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, Why then did ye not believe him?" 26 But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the people for all account John as a prophet." 27 And they answering Jesus, said, "We know not." He also said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

37"But last of all, he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' 38 But the husbandmen seeing the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and seize on his inheritance." 39 So taking him, they cast

42 Jesus said to them, "Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord's doing, and is it wonderful in our eyes?' 43 Therefore I tell you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a people bringing forth its proper fruits. 44 [And whosoever falleth on this stone will be broken by it: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will crush him to pieces.]"

45 And the chief priests and Pharisees hearing his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. 46 But though they sought to apprehend him, they feared the multitudes, because they accounted him as a prophet.

CH. XXII. 1 Upon this, Jesus spake to them again in parables, saying, 2"The kingdom of heaven is like a king, who made a marriagefeast for his son; 3 and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage-feast; but they would not come. 4 Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those that are invited, Behold, I have prepared

ready; come to the marriage.' 5 But they made light of it, and went away, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise: 6 and the rest, seizing his servants, abused and killed them.

7" But the king hearing this, was enraged; and sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, The marriage-feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9 Go therefore into the cross roads, and all that ye find, invite to the marriage.' 10 So those servants went out into the high ways, and gathered together all, as many as they found, both bad and good; and the marriagefeast was filled with guests. 11 Now the king coming in to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment; 12 and said to him,

·

Friend, how camest thou hither, not having a wedding-garment?' And he was speechless. 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him, hand and foot, and [take him away, and] put him forth into the outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 For many are called, but few chosen."

15 THEN the Pharisees retired, and took counsel how they might insnare him in discourse. 16 And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that thou art true, and teachest the
