1. Yes! the Redeemer rose,
The Saviour left the dead,
And o'er our hellish foes

High raised his conquering head:
In wild dismay,

The guards around
Fell to the ground,
And sunk away.

2. Lo! the angelic bands
In full assembly meet,
To wait his high commands,
And worship at his feet:

Joyful they come,
And wing their way
From realms of day
To such a tomb.

3. Then back to heaven they fly,

And the glad tidings bear;
Hark! as they soar on high,
What music fills the air!

Their anthems say,

'Jesus who bled

Hath left the dead;

[ocr errors]

He rose to-day.'

Minister.—Almighty and Everlasting God, we draw near into thy presence to worship and adore thee: behold us in thy compassion, and have mercy upon

us.

Thou Lord, art the searcher of all hearts: thine eyes run to and fro through the whole earth, beholding the evil and the good. Imbue us, O God Most Holy, with a deep impression of our being in thy presence, and of thine eye being intent upon us, when we approach thee in worship: and grant us grace, O Lord, to worship thee in godly fear, and in spirit, and in truth.

Congregation.-O Lord, enable us to worship thee, in spirit and in truth.

Minister. O Most High and Eternal Majesty, the highest heaven is thy throne, and this earth is but thy footstool. Yet, thou, O Lord, Most High, dost humble thyself to look down on this poor world, and on its unworthy inhabitants. O Lord, we adore thee for thy condescension and love, to us poor guilty and sinful creatures.

Congregation.-O Lord, we adore thee for thy condescension and love, to us poor guilty and sinful

creatures.

Minister.-Thou, Lord, hast so loved the world as to give thy only Son Jesus Christ, to be a ransom for our sins, that we should not perish, but might obtain everlasting life and blessedness. We give thanks unto thee, O Lord, and adoration, for this thy love, and for this glorious redemption.

Congregation-Glory and adoration be unto thy name, O God Almighty, for thy love in our redemption through Jesus Christ.

Minister. O Lord, convince us all, and most deeply, of our sinful, corrupt, and lost condition. May we see that we are altogether guilty, and lying under condemnation, and that there is no hope, nor possibility, of our delivering ourselves from this our woful condition. May we clearly see this our state, and be humbled before thee: and may we turn away from all hope in ourselves, and turn our eyes to thee in deep repentance, and cry out for Mercy. O Lord, have mercy upon us; have mercy upon us, O Lord, and enter not into judgment with us, but compassionate us in thy Son Jesus Christ.

Congregation.-O Lord, have compassion upon us, through Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world.

Minister-Almighty God, we bless thee that Jesus Christ shed his precious blood for our sins, and that his blood cleanseth from all guilt: and we adore thee for declaring that every one who cometh unto thee through him, and his atonement, shall obtain the remission of sins. O Lord God, we come unto thee through Jesus Christ, and we believe in thy promise concerning the efficacy of his blood. O cleanse us, we beseech thee, from all our guil. through his atoning sacrifice.

Congregation.-O Lord God, wash us from all our sins in the atoning blood of Christ.
